Business Strategy

“We never finish, we just run out of time”

If this is your business strategy, it might be time to start over from scratch.  Go ahead and forget about the Phantom…

Earthrace

This caught my eye for a few reasons.  The adventure of boating around the world is crazy.  The boat itself has an amazing design.  Then breaking/crushing world records is an added bonus.  Being jailed in Guatemala and pirates don’t sound like something I would want to go into it knowing that is what would happen.  But it seems like an adventure.  The way the boat goes through the water is also crazy…  It does not go over the waves, but through them.  Anyhow, here are some pics of the boat, the map, and a link to more info.

This house would probably look good nearly anywhere.  It is 4,000+ sqft and sits on 1.2 acres of land.  It has four bedrooms, rec room, jacuzzi and dry sauna.

Stress

I have been under some stress the past few weeks.  It is hard to see the big picture when you are stressed.  I tend to concentrate all my energy to the stress until I can not function properly.

Here is a definition of stress from wikipedia: “Stress is the condition that results when person-environment transactions lead the individual to perceive a discrepancy, whether real or not, between the demands of a situation and the resources of the person’s biological, psychological or social systems. …”

There are various ways to relieve stress and some are much healthier than others.  I am generally able to relax with basic workouts and breathing, but these last few weeks have been rough.  I am going to be spending a week in July and hopefully that will help me clear my head and refocus a bit.  I will be in Piqueros, which is a bit remote.  I am excited because it is close to the one area I have found that I would love to retire.  So I might do some land shopping.

This video is about how my head has felt the last few years.

If you have any great stress relief techniques let me know.  Ultimately keeping things rolling is what works best.  It is when I get stuck on things that I get stressed.

“Bad news for Jacob Arabov. The man, better known as “Jacob the Jeweler” and namechecked in stars by hip-hop stars like Missy Elliot for his expensive and gaudy creations has just been sentenced to 30 months in prison. Arabov has been sentenced to 30 months in prison, and will have to pay a fine of $2 million in a sentence handed down today by U.S. district court judge Avern Cohn in Detroit. Arabov was arrested on June 15, 2006 on money laundering charges involving more than $270 million in narcotics earnings for a Detroit-based drug ring.”

This is from luxist.com.   Washing a 1/4 billion sounds sick.  Seems like there is probably more going on here, but I am not trying to guess.

I am always up for a challenge and feel that people need to challenge themselves to succeed in life.  I also believe that you should set yourself up for success.

Sun Tzu  “Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win.”

I have been a part of a project these last few weeks that has been as close to failure as I would like to get.  I have had to work beyond my capacity for a few days straight to get a decent product out to the customer.  There is a thin line between failure and success.  It is very hard to guarantee success going into a project, but as the Art of War states the better the preparation the better the rate of success.

Real Estate SEO

Search engine optimization is important in all industries.  I have a house listed at roughly $169,000.  When you search for it on realtor.com you have to search.  In the same zipcode there are over 500 houses for sale.  You can narrow the search by price ranges.  The closest range is $150,000-$175,000.  This puts the search results to around 180 homes.  My house is listed on the 13th page.  I am not sure how many people will make it to that page.

People can tighten the search by searching by number of rooms, bathrooms, floors, garage, etc…  I was able to get it on the first results page after narrowing the search to exactly what the house has.  I compare this to SEO as this feels like a long tail keyword campaign…  I would like to reach the masses.  I could raise the price to exactly $175,000.  I would then be on the first page (even if overpriced).  Is being on the first page of a search worth it, vs. being on the 13th page within my range?  Realistically a realtor would be able to match the house with someone looking for it, but how good are their searches…

I am debating what to do, any thoughts?
